About 2,000 Guna Yala residents will become one of the first indigenous communities in Latin America to be relocated due to climate change.

The government of Panama estimates that all of the islands of the Guna people could be underwater by 2050, based on projections by an independent group of scientists, although others believe that the islands may not all be underwater until the end of the century.
