Dead dolphin recovered from Halda river again

A total of 40 dead dolphins have been recovered from the Natural Fish Breeding Center and Bangabandhu Fisheries Heritage Halda River and its tributaries in the last five years. Almost all of them had injuries on their bodies. Animal and Halda researchers are concerned about the recovery of dead dolphins one after another in Halda.

River researcher Manjurul Kibria told Prothom Alo that all the dolphins that were rescued earlier had injury marks on their backs. Some of these dolphins have been hacked to death. The series of dolphin deaths is ominous for Halda. Dolphins are a helpful animal for a healthy river environment. It is necessary to take new initiatives of the administration to protect dolphins.
